Club hire is one of the most common questions I get from golfers planning a trip. Should I bring my clubs? Can I hire decent ones? Where from, and how much? Does the course have sets available?
The honest answer: yes, you can hire excellent clubs here. Course hire sets vary from good to questionable. For any course where quality matters — and at Son Gual or Alcanada, it does — a specialist company is worth using.
Note: I don't offer club hire directly. This guide is purely practical. I can help point you to the right company for your trip if you get in touch.
Should You Bring Your Own?
If you're playing three rounds or more on a dedicated golf trip, bring them. Airline fees (typically £30–60 each way) are usually worth it for a proper trip, and there's a real advantage to playing with clubs you know.
If you're on a mixed holiday with one or two rounds planned, hire makes more sense. The specialist companies here have genuinely good equipment, and the cost works out lower than checking clubs both ways.

"For Son Gual or Alcanada, hire current-season equipment from a specialist company rather than using whatever's in the rack at the pro shop."
What Clubs to Choose
The budget sets at €8–12 per day are forgiving game-improvement clubs — fine for a casual round, less ideal if you want to play well.
Mid-range at €12–18 per day is where modern technology starts. A decent graphite set gives you equipment you'd be happy with on any course on the island.
Premium current-season graphite sets start at around €55 for 2 days and scale to €140 for 10 days. For Son Gual or Alcanada, these are the sets worth using.
Course Hire Sets
Most courses have hire sets at the pro shop — typically €35–50. Fine for a mid-range course on a casual day. Son Gual (Callaway €35, Titleist €45) and Alcanada (TaylorMade €38) both have decent options if you don't want to arrange delivery.
Money-Saving Tips
- Book 7+ days in advance: 10–20% discount at most companies
- Weekly rate: saves 20–30% if playing 5+ days
- Course pickup: free at most companies — arrange it if timing works
- Group discount: ask for parties of 4 or more
